The 4th industrial revolution (IR 4.0) encourages entrepreneurs to optimize all available resources in the business network to meet market demand. For oil palm plantations, there is no exception.
For this reason, the Indonesian Planters Society (IPS) welcomes the industrial revolution 4.0 by holding the 2018 National Planters Indonesia Seminar (SNPI). This activity marks the first step in strengthening Indonesia's planter organizations and developing the palm oil industry in the digital era.
This nationwide seminar was held in Yogyakarta 1-2 Aug 2018 and the theme was "The Role of Professional Planter and the Application of Digital in Increasing Productivity and Profitability of Indonesian Palm Oil Sustainably".
The Head of the SNPI 2018 Committee, Darus Salam, said that this seminar was the Indonesian Planters Society's first activity, which presented speakers from planters, farmers, government, and academics.
During this event, IPS collaborated with SAP, whose integrated system is proven solution for palm oil industry and Wilmar Consultancy Services (a subsidiary of Wilmar International) or commonly known as WCS as the main sponsors.
Gunawan Tandun, Sales Director of Wilmar Consultancy Services said the WCS highly appreciated and supported this seminar because professional planters are key to the palm oil industry's progress. Especially in this technology era we encourage oil palm business owners to make critical decisions with real-time data.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Indonesian Planters Society, Zulham S. Koto also conveyed that IPS is a professional organisation born on 7 January 2018 as a forum for all Indonesian professional plantations organisation.
IPS was incepted from the idea of all Indonesian planters, especially oil palm plantation players that are efficient, highly competitive and sustainable. In addition, Zulham said IPS wants to be the key stakeholder, the important pillar for national plantations to increase competitiveness, efficiency and to develop sustainable palm oil to improve the industry image.
